2020 was a very challenging year for all of us. Having to adapt to a new frightening reality as

the world changed in the blink of an eye was not easy. However, there were blessings the

pandemic brought. I learned to slow down, appreciate the value of friends and family, and

gained new insight. The isolation provided me with a time of renewed inspiration, the ability

to create new vibrant artworks and find my peace.

My work Joy invites the viewers to reconnect with nature and their inner selves.

In such troubled times, it is comforting to think that every day small miracles still happen

naturally. Throughout the world, animals and plants comfortably reclaim their natural

habitats and peacefully interact with the surrounding urban setting.

By combining realism with surrealism and spirituality, it evokes contemplation, and

ultimately, offers a return to memories of more peaceful times, as a start of a journey of self-

healing.

Through the illustration of a young woman with a bouquet obscuring half of her face, the

piece juxtaposes cosmopolitan life and nature motifs of a vibrant colour palette. The bright

golden yellows complement the subtle tones of pinks and blues, and darker browns and

blacks create a mysterious yet tranquil image. Furthermore, the flowers and panther on the

lower-left not only allude to the wilderness but also make reference to the grace and elegance

of the figure.

The enigmatic figures akin to the relaxed presence of the wild present in my art suggest that

nature can offer us the ability to restore tranquillity in a chaotic world. This idea serves as my

inspiration: offering a message of hope and beauty, life and rebirth.

“Let us dance in the sun, wearing wildflowers in our hair.”
